3'x5' Polyester Culpeper Minutemen flag with 2 metal grommets.

In 1775 in the district around Culpeper, Virginia, a militia group was formed called the Culpeper Minutemen. The men in this group were drilled in military tactics and trained to respond to emergencies "at a minute's notice."

Not only were the Culpeper minutemen remembered for their part the played when they fought for the patriot side in the first year of the American Revolution, but also remembered for their company flag: a white banner featuring a rattlesnake, featuring the phrases "Liberty or Death" and "Don't Tread on Me". Culpeper was Considered frontier territory at the time and in October 1775, the newly formed minutemen were sent to Hampton in response to British ships attempting to land. The riflemen of the minutemen were able to, with effective shooting, take the men manning the ships cannons out thus leaving the fleet no other joice but to sail away.
