12"x18" hand held First Navy Jack stick flag with 24" wooden stick. Flag is made from polyester and printed in bright colors to make an attractive flag. Each flag is individually sewn around the edges.

The First Navy Jack was used, for the first time, in recent history during the Bicentennial year, 1976, when all commissioned naval vessels were directed to fly the flag for the entire year, instead of the standard fifty-star jack.

In 1980 the Secretary of the Navy, Edward Hidalgo, instructed that the ship with the longest active status shall display the First Navy Jack until decommissioned or until it was transferred to inactive service. Once any of these conditions took place the flag will be passed to the next ship in line.
